Perceptual Processing


Auditory representations derive from two processes, both of which must be functioning properly to achieve the desired accuracy. Pitch processing creates a correct pitch percept from acoustic attributes. This pitch percept provides the input for the process of pattern organisation, which determines the combination of components that belong together.
